“You were my dream,
And the seed of your sweetness
Was my pillow.
For years I slept -
my cheek against yours,
dreaming the seed to grow.
Until, one day,
You suddenly turned to flesh
And held me in your strong arms
And whispered sweet things in my ear,
Things so lovely
I could not have dreamed them.
Strange how our dreams
grow larger than ourselves,
Born from our hearts, but becoming greater than anything we could have made.
The spade only digs the place for a seed, but what grows there
is beyond imagining.
That is you, my dear -
Words that take my breath away,
A kind of love story I could never have written,
A truth you can’t know until you feel it -
In your eyes as they gaze down on me,
And your arms as they wrap me up
to be kissed.”
