From the Caressed by Flowers Collection, an ode to the grace and wisdom of flowers and the magic we can find when we rest among their petals.
POEM
“Sometimes
I go out into the garden
And lay beneath
a canopy of flowers,
Letting their softness
spill over me,
letting them shield my eyes
And filter the light
with their glow.
And I think
“If I lay here all day,
soaking in this feeling,
could I take this wonder
back with me?”
There is seldom space
in the busy moments
of an ordinary life
to feel this kind of magic.
How do we hold tight
when the world asks us
to lose ourselves
in its demands?
How do we find
our way back
to the softness of our petals
and our canopy of grace?
I don’t know yet, but I would like to.
And so I think I will sit here
for as many days
as I should need to,
Trying to find
the answers to my questions,
Looking for a path to myself,
in these beautiful blossoms
And the folds
of their soft petals.”

“My heart feels like it is beaming! I just got the artwork… opening them up and seeing them, they are breathtaking! I am amazed! How did I not buy something until now? They’re so freaking beautiful! They just literally couldn’t be more perfect for this space. And the poems, oh my gosh! And the ribbons and the packaging! I want to put your art everywhere! It’s so beautiful.”

POEM
“I have often held myself close,
like a flower
in the early hours of the day -
tight and sheltered,
the way morning glories sleep
before the sun coaxes them to open.
And though I have wondered
what it might be like
to spread my wings wide
and let myself unfurl -
cascading beyond my edges
until there was nothing
but a sea of my petals
in every direction -
in most moments
I was never brave enough to try.
But today,
I saw my reflection and realized
that I had changed -
grown bright and beautiful
and full of life,
spilling out beyond my borders,
bursting forth
unapologetically
as if I had always known
that I was never meant to stay
so small.”

POEM
“Flowers caress me
as I dip my toes
into soft grass
Passing petals
with a brush of my fingers
Lingering
just a moment
on their soft skin
And within the sweet embrace
Of early morning
mist and shadow
And light dancing through the leaves,
I walk.
How sweet
To walk
where growing things
have kissed the world,
Letting their stems lean in
And their melodies wash over me,
Remembering the music
resting just within their petals.
I had somehow forgotten
(in all the silence)
That they were always there for me -
Voices tuned to my heart -
Waiting for me
To reach out
And find my resonance
Amidst their upturned petals.“

POEM
“Some days,
I have nothing to give
but the sheer truth of my heart.
And in these long afternoons
of nothingness,
as the sun
makes her gentle way
across the sky,
the world might wonder
what I have offered.
I do wonder too -
will these hands
and this beating heart
ever alter the course of things
or change some small corner of the world?
But even in my faltering stride
the songbird calls to me
with her beckoning song
and I am made brave again,
by her lilting tune,
to dance a little
and not to worry too much
about the mark I could make
or the people who lay waiting
for my vision.
And with the delight
that only easy permission
can impart on a body,
I start to work my hands again,
giving in to long lingering brushstrokes,
painting my heart onto my canvas.
How brave the songbird is,
to share her song
even without knowing
if there will ever be
or a story told about her
or some meaning made
from her tune.”
