And move to my own sweet song
Trusting - because you have trusted -
that everything
Which yet awaits
Will find its way to me,
Resting next to you
Among the endless fields
of California poppies,
Knowing -
because you have known first -
that all our dreams
Are already
dancing toward us.
In the safety of your love
I have learned to be free.
In the fabric of your strength
I have discovered
How soft I can truly become.”

You will find us everywhere
Tiny bits of magic
Bursting through the seams,
Particles of starlight
Descending from the sky
To lighten your heart
And spark that dormant
Seed inside you.”

Born from our hearts, but becoming greater than anything we could have made.

“ I made you to remind me
Of my first silk scarf
And the cafe in the 8th
with the tangy grapefruit jelly.
Of sitting on balconies above courtyards
And sleeping in late
until the warm scent
Of kisses and chaussons aux pommes
Pulled me into the world.
Of crown molding
and satin pillows
and stripes of color that take me to the sea
And of Chagall’s paintings he created just for Niece.
Of stolen moments on bridges
and standing alongside my namesake’s
marble bust
In the home of her lover
Imagining what it must have been like to know his great hands so well.
Yes, Bleue, I made you
to remind me of magic -
of that whole body
total perfection
As I walked along the Seine at night
Lit only by the
sparkle of the Eiffel Tower
And your starlight.
When I first discovered
how the magic of a place
Could hold your heart
And never let you go
And how one hue
can evoke every sense inside you
and how one color
can tell your entire story. ”

“Soft beckoning of starlight
on a night still young
and yet forever swept away
as I am swept away
in your gaze.
Tonight I will let myself unfurl
one petal at a time
until you have seen
my whole being
open
as a peony in spring -
bare and beautiful
and perfectly exposed.
I do not know
where my heart will take me
on this night
of uncovering myself for you,
but I know
that I will be brighter now
with all the starlight
I am letting in
to the deep places
in my petals
that have not seen such light
for a long time.“
